Imagining Cities for Afrodescendant People Assigned Female at Birth (AFAB) and Women
Lab member Mike Harrington is currently working on an art project that also serves as the basis for his doctoral dissertation in Public and Urban Policy at The New School. The project, A City for Us, is an exploration of what it would be like to design cities for people assigned female at birth and women of African descent in the United States and Brazil. Key concepts of this project are: representation, visibility, and the positive portrayal of Black/Afrodescendant people through photography.
While Mike is focusing on the metropolitan areas of New York City, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Chicago, he would be happy to speak to anyone about this project. He invites anyone who is interested in being a part of the project or with questions to reach out to him at mikeharrington@newschool.edu.
